TOOWOOMBA and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) has announced its new CEO will be Greg Bowden, who will replace current leader Ali Davenport when she departs in the coming weeks after five years in the role.
Bowden has been the Executive Manager of Advance Rockhampton since 2020 following 15 years working as a strategy and economic development executive in the Brisbane City Council Lord Mayor’s office.
His new appointment to the helm of TSBE was announced by chairman Dr John McVeigh at the organisation’s Enterprise Evening at Parliament House Wednesday night.

“Greg comes to us with great experience having worked in mining, renewable energy, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, major events and public sector roles on projects including the Brisbane Olympics bid and significantly growing the defence spend in Rockhampton,” McVeigh said.
“He comes to TSBE with significant skills and experience, such that he will be able to build on the great work that Ali has completed over the last five years, and Shane Charles before her.
“His skills and experience, I think, are particularly relevant areas for our organisation going forward.
“He’s had exposure to agriculture in the Toowoomba part of the world with Grain Corp and the like some years ago. In Rockhampton, in his current role, he’s had a particular focus on economic development in the defence sector.
“You would be familiar with the Shoalwater Bay training area just north of Rockhampton. I know for a fact the Federal Government literally pours billions of dollars into that facility.

“Greg and his team have really activated in recent years on behalf of Rockhampton to continue to attract intense industry expenditure and investment in that part of the world.
“That is important now in our part of the world with our burgeoning defence and space sector.
“Greg also had spent time working alongside former Lord Mayor Graham Quirk in Brisbane for the entire period of his tenure. Amongst other things, Greg had a particular focus on laying the groundwork with Lord Mayor Graham Quirk for what was ultimately the successful Olympics bid – again, so relevant to our part of the world.
“We look forward to an exciting new chapter at TSBE under Greg’s leadership.”
